Homemade Curry

Today was a very unproductive day. I didn't do a lick of work on my thesis, BUT I did play kaluki with Phil and Andy and then later with Phil and Tim...They all thoroughly wasted me in every game - makes me doubt my kaluki playing skills. Phil and I had curry for dinner, and it was quite nice. It was really hot again in Edinburgh today...about 80 degrees, way hot for Scotland, but still nothing compared to the 96 degrees when I was home a few weeks ago...Scotland really turns you into a weather baby because it's so boring, especially us Midwesterners who are used to crazy weather. Tomorrow I will write another 1,000 words on my dissertation!!

Thinking about curry at the Bank Hotel

Jul. 11th, 2005 | 02:01 am
mood: satisfied satisfied
music: marvellous tunes of Andy Macfarlane drifting through my head

Tonight was Bank Hotel night. I have friends that play there every Sunday night, but this week was my dear friend Andy solo and it was a rockin' good time. His voice was spot on; he reckons it's because he's trying to quit smoking...he was chewing nicotine gum like a fiend the whole time he was playing. Some of my best friends attended this evening, and I must say it was one of my best Bank Hotel experiences to date (and considering I've made it there 31 times on Sunday night, that's saying a lot). The only thing that would have made it better would have been a big plateful of curry, but I could only dream about James and Sarah's homemade green Thai curry...mmmmm

Not Curry, But Chinese Buffet Cured My Hangover

As Duce wrote, we did have a most fantastic night, which is photographically chronicled on my photo site. The Italian guys *are* incredible when a gal needs her ego massaged. As we left and they were showering me with kisses (because of their ‘customer service’ I do frequent that restaurant), I heard one say in a heavy Italian accent, ‘No stop!! Stop keessing!! You make-ah ihm jay-lus!’ On Duce’s birthday we went there, and as they brought him some candle-clad dessert, they say ‘Happy Birthday’ to Duce, then the cute one looks at me, says ‘Bella!’ and gives me a huge ol’ kiss. He follows it up with a shrug, gesticulating from his crotch (as Italian men do), and says, ‘What!? Ihs an excuse! Bella!’ (insert another smooch).

So the day after, I cured my hangover not with curry, but with tourism. I was a proper tourist of our beautiful city. Went to the Chinese buffet where I read my Edinburgh Rough Guide, walked around the city at a ridiculously slow pace (these people are sometimes called ‘meanderthals’), enjoyed the sunny day by riding a tour bus (I was the only one on top, so I got a private tour from the guide), and was sexually harassed by some 10 year-olds (see photo for explanation).

Considering my day started with me waking up with a CD CASE (not just the cd) stuck to my naked sweaty body, which was curled around the lamp that had fallen down as I tried to get into bed, and gum sexily smooshed onto the nightstand in the throes of passion… considering that, I ended up having a great day.

And tonight Duce and I will part, but only for a little while. As he enjoys the 1.50 Guinness at the Bank Hotel, I will be enjoying a certain songstress at the Three Tons. Maybe afterward, Duce and I shall see each again.

Can curry cure a hangover?

Amity and I had a fantastic night last night. We drank wine, ate Italian, had whisky at the Bow Bar, did body shots with gin (something I don't recommend), and went to the Royal Oak. I was treated to a couple pints of Guinness by some nice old men, whom I accompanied to the Jazz Bar (formerly the Cellar Bar). They were quite nice. We discussed philosophy, politics, curry, music, poverty, and a number of other interesting things. 'Twas a fantastic night, and I look forward to more drunken fun tomorrow night at the Bank Hotel.

So me and Am are going out for dinner tonight to celebrate our progress on our dissertations. Curry? I'm afraid not..tonight is Italian from Ciao Roma where we get to be accosted by randy Italians (Amity loves it). Then we're off to drink wHisky and have a fantastic night of drunkenness without our dear friend curry. We'll drink to you, dear friend.

The Smell of Curry & Lily

Jul. 8th, 2005 | 03:15 pm
mood: curious curious

I've recently purchased some lilies, which are my favourite flower as they smell fantastic! It is refreshing that my room now smells of lily greatness. Curry also smells wonderful, but in a very different way than lilies do. Curry also makes me smell like curry, whereas lilies don't (make me smell like lilies OR curry). For instance, after eating good curry, my armpits, pee and sweat have a very distinct curry fragrance... sometimes for days afterward. In fact, when hungry, I'm often tempted to eat me.

For our reader out there, have you had similar experiences with the powerful smell of curry?

Will There Be Curry?

Jul. 7th, 2005 | 09:17 pm

We may be going to a barbeque, BBQ or bar-b-q this weekend, which should hit the spot. We wonder, however, if there will be curry. Probably not, as curry isn't the most popular barbeque, BBQ, or bar-b-q food, though it should be as it can be made in giant portions. Perhaps we should bring curry.

Curry Burpin' at the Bank Hotel

Jul. 7th, 2005 | 12:13 am
mood: satisfied satisfied

We went to the Bank Hotel tonight to see some live music from some hottie friends of Duce. We were satisfied with the music and the curry situated deep in our tummies. Duce was constantly reminded of his currily satisfying meal from each curry-flavored burp that was roused from the tasty beer he drank.
